✨ Technical Specifications
Tardieu-Laurent's Cuvée Spéciale is a legendary expression of old-vine Grenache, most famously sourced from ancient parcels in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, particularly the sandy soils of the famed La Crau plateau. This cuvée pays homage to the traditional, non-destemmed style of the southern Rhône. The vines, many of which are over a century old, yield incredibly concentrated fruit. Michel and Bastien Tardieu employ minimal intervention, aging the wine in a combination of seasoned oak and concrete to preserve the pure, explosive essence of the Grenache grape. Historically, this wine represents the pinnacle of the micro-négoce philosophy, proving that sourcing from the finest growers and applying precise, respectful elevage can produce a wine of monumental depth, complexity, and longevity.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1994 by Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent, Maison Tardieu-Laurent is a prestigious micro-négociant based in the picturesque village of Lourmarin within the Luberon region of southern France. Today managed by Michel Tardieu alongside his son Bastien, the house operates as an exceptional 'négociant-éleveur', selecting pristine fruit and young wines exclusively from very old vines across top crus of the Rhône Valley. Renowned for their uncompromising dedication to terroir and traditional élevage, they mature their wines patiently in custom-crafted French oak barrels without fining or filtration. Tardieu-Laurent is celebrated worldwide for its richly concentrated, structured, and age-worthy red and white expressions spanning appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Hermitage, Cornas, and their renowned Les Becs Fins Côtes du Rhône.
