Islay Dry Gin
⏳ wine.drinking_window
Ready to drink immediately as spirits do not mature or improve in the bottle. To preserve the delicate botanical oils, store the bottle upright in a cool, dark place. Best served chilled, on the rocks, or at room temperature.
🍽️ wine.food_pairings
Excellent in a classic Gin & Tonic garnished with a sprig of rosemary or a slice of red grapefruit, or served in a dry Martini with a lemon twist. For food pairings, its herbal and citrus profile pairs exceptionally well with fresh oysters, smoked salmon, or mild goat cheese.
✨ wine.spec_sheet
The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is distilled at the Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay using a unique, low-pressure Lomond still. The distillation is a slow, 17-hour process designed to gently extract the aromatic oils. The recipe features nine classic gin botanicals alongside 22 hand-foraged botanicals native to Islay, including heather, meadowsweet, and lemon balm. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration, this unaged spirit offers a highly complex profile characterized by floral notes, sweet menthol, citrus, and a background of juniper and warming spices.
🍾 wine.about_producer
Produced at the historic Bruichladdich Distillery on the Isle of Islay, Scotland, The Botanist is a progressive dry gin that captures the wild, maritime terroir of its Hebridean home. Conceived by master distiller Jim McEwan and first released in 2010, this distinctive spirit is slow-distilled over seventeen hours in "Ugly Betty," a rare, modified Lomond pot still. Its complex recipe features nine classic gin botanicals augmented by twenty-two hand-foraged local Islay herbs, flowers, and leaves, sustainably harvested from the island's hills, peat bogs, and Atlantic coastlines. The resulting Islay Dry Gin is highly acclaimed for its layered, floral complexity and exceptionally smooth, herbaceous profile, representing a landmark achievement in craft spirit distillation.
