✨ Technical Specifications
Sourced from old bush vines up to 50 years of age, this Priorat cuvée is grown on classic steep llicorella slate terraces in high-altitude parcels. The blend is anchored by historic Catalan varieties—predominantly Garnacha and Cariñena (Samsó), occasionally supplemented by Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats under controlled temperatures, followed by extended maceration to extract deep color and firm tannins before aging for approximately 12 months in French oak barriques, yielding distinct crushed-rock minerality and concentrated dark fruit.
🍾 About the Producer
Tosalet is a distinguished Priorat estate project developed by Hammeken Cellars, an innovative wine company established in 1996 by Danish entrepreneur Nicholas Hammeken. Focused on expressing Catalonia's rugged viticultural heritage, Tosalet sources fruit from steep, terraced vineyards set into the dramatic hillsides of DOQ Priorat. The vines—often ranging between 50 and 100 years of age—are anchored in the region's hallmark llicorella slate soils, enduring arid conditions, stark elevation, and high diurnal temperature swings. Under the direction of head winemaker Marcelo Morales, the viticultural philosophy emphasizes sustainable vineyard stewardship and manual harvesting on steep slopes inaccessible to machinery. In the cellar, old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena are fermented with meticulous temperature control and aged in fine French oak barriques. Signature bottlings like Tosalet Vinyes Fins a 50 Anys and Tosalet Carignan Vinyes Velles display profound mineral tension, ripe wild bramble fruit, crushed slate complexity, and polished structural depth.
