Tyrrell's Fordwich Verdelho is a vibrant celebration of one of the Hunter Valley's most successful alternative white varieties. The grapes are sourced from the historic Fordwich Sill, a unique geological formation in the Broke Fordwich sub-region characterized by ancient, weathered red volcanic soils. First planted in the Hunter Valley in the 19th century, Verdelho thrives in this warm climate, and the volcanic terroir of Fordwich imparts a distinct richness and intense tropical fruit profile to the wine. Tyrrell's vinifies this fruit entirely in stainless steel to preserve its pure, aromatic intensity, resulting in a wine bursting with notes of passionfruit, guava, and spice, balanced by a crisp, lively acidity that has made it a beloved classic of the region.

Founded in 1858 by Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious family-owned wineries, nestled against the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. Spanning five generations of family stewardship, the estate played a seminal role in shaping modern Australian viticulture, including pioneering the country's first commercial Chardonnay with the legendary Vat 47 in 1971.
