✨ Tekniske specifikationer

Tyrrell's Old Patch is sourced from a historic block of Shiraz vines planted in 1867, making it one of the oldest continually producing vineyards in the world. Located in the Pokolbin sub-region of the Hunter Valley, these ancient, ungrafted vines grow on their own roots in deep, red volcanic clay soils at the foot of the Brokenback Range. The wine is a legendary expression of Hunter Valley Shiraz, crafted using traditional techniques including fermentation in open oak vats and maturation in large, older French oak casks. This minimal-intervention approach preserves the unique voice of the ancient terroir, yielding a medium-bodied, remarkably elegant red wine defined by savory complexity, red berry fruit, and fine-grained tannins rather than heavy oak influence.

🍾 Om vinhuset / producenten

Founded in 1858 by Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious family-owned wineries, nestled against the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. Spanning five generations of family stewardship, the estate played a seminal role in shaping modern Australian viticulture, including pioneering the country's first commercial Chardonnay with the legendary Vat 47 in 1971. The winery remains dedicated to traditional, minimal-intervention winemaking and the preservation of historic, own-rooted old-vine parcels that yield exceptional regional character. Tyrrell's is internationally acclaimed for its benchmark Vat 1 Semillon, celebrated for its extraordinary longevity, as well as distinguished, elegant Hunter Valley Shiraz and sparkling wines.
