The Wiltinger Gottesfuss is one of the Saar's most legendary grand cru vineyards, famous for its breathtakingly steep, south-facing slope and its unique red Devonian slate soils, which impart an extraordinarily rich, iron-like minerality to the wine. The name 'Gottesfuss' translates to 'Foot of God,' a testament to the reverence this site has commanded for centuries. Van Volxem's GG from this vineyard is crafted from extremely old, often ungrafted Riesling vines that yield tiny, highly concentrated berries. Spontaneously fermented in traditional large oak fuder casks, this dry Riesling is celebrated for its opulent texture, striking structure, and a complex aromatic profile of wild herbs, ripe stone fruits, and smoky, flinty minerals.

With viticultural roots reaching back to Roman antiquity and an 18th-century Jesuit monastery, Weingut Van Volxem is a historic estate situated in Wiltingen along the steep slopes of the Saar in Germany's Mosel region. The estate experienced a dramatic renaissance when Roman Niewodniczanski acquired it in 1999, dedicating the estate to restoring the Saar's historic reputation for world-class, dry-style wines crafted with artisanal precision.
