This cuvée is crafted as an accessible yet high-quality introduction to the Verget style, typically showcasing the Chardonnay grape sourced from carefully selected vineyards. To preserve the maximum freshness, purity, and mineral tension of the fruit, the wine is fermented and aged primarily in stainless steel and concrete vats, avoiding heavy oak influence. Guffens, often referred to as a rebel of Burgundy for his outspoken nature and revolutionary techniques, applies the same rigorous standards of pneumatic pressing and lees contact to this entry-level bottling as he does to his prestigious single-vineyard appellations, resulting in a remarkably focused, vibrant, and expressive white wine.

Maison Verget blev grundlagt i 1990 af den visionære belgiske vinmager Jean-Marie Guffens og hans hustru Maine Heynen i Sologny, beliggende i Mâconnais i det sydlige Bourgogne. Som en banebrydende négociant-éleveur revolutionerede huset vinproduktionen i Bourgogne med sine kompromisløse standarder for drueudvælgelse, skånsom horisontal presning samt præcis lagring på det fine bundfald med minimal brug af nyt egetræ. Verget er verdenskendt for sine rene, mineralske Chardonnay-vine fra førsteklasses terroirs i alt fra Mâconnais til Chablis og Côte d'Or, men mestrer også ekspressive Pinot Noir-vine og nytænkende fortolkninger fra det sydlige Frankrig.
