Crafted by the iconoclastic Jean-Marie Guffens, Verget's 'Grands Terroirs Oublies' (Forgotten Great Terroirs) is a liquid manifesto celebrating the overlooked and underappreciated vineyard sites of Burgundy. True to Guffens' rebellious spirit and uncanny ability to spot hidden potential, this white Burgundy is made entirely from Chardonnay sourced from exceptional parcels that history or fashion temporarily left behind. By utilizing gentle pneumatic pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, and aging in horizontal stainless steel or concrete vats with minimal oak intervention, Verget preserves the raw, crystalline purity of the fruit. The result is a wine that punches far above its weight, weaving a narrative of mineral tension, vibrant citrus, and white floral notes that challenges the hierarchy of Burgundy's more famous appellations.

Maison Verget blev grundlagt i 1990 af den visionære belgiske vinmager Jean-Marie Guffens og hans hustru Maine Heynen i Sologny, beliggende i Mâconnais i det sydlige Bourgogne. Som en banebrydende négociant-éleveur revolutionerede huset vinproduktionen i Bourgogne med sine kompromisløse standarder for drueudvælgelse, skånsom horisontal presning samt præcis lagring på det fine bundfald med minimal brug af nyt egetræ. Verget er verdenskendt for sine rene, mineralske Chardonnay-vine fra førsteklasses terroirs i alt fra Mâconnais til Chablis og Côte d'Or, men mestrer også ekspressive Pinot Noir-vine og nytænkende fortolkninger fra det sydlige Frankrig.
