Hailing from the historic Mâcon-Charnay appellation in the southern reaches of Burgundy, Verget's 'Le Clos Saint-Pierre' is a masterful expression of single-vineyard Chardonnay. The term 'clos' refers to a traditional walled vineyard, a legacy of medieval monastic viticulture where monks painstakingly identified and enclosed the finest parcels of land. In this specific site, the vines thrive on classic argilo-calcaire (clay-limestone) soils, which impart a distinct, stony minerality to the grapes. Under the meticulous guidance of Maison Verget, the fruit is gently pressed and fermented primarily in temperature-controlled vats to preserve its vibrant, natural acidity and pure fruit profile.
