Hailing from one of the most prestigious climats in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, the Verget 'Terroir de Fuissé Vers Asnières' is a masterclass in Mâconnais Chardonnay. The vineyard of 'Vers Asnières' is situated on a steep, east-facing slope rich in active limestone and clay, a geological profile that imparts a distinctive, Chablis-like mineral tension to the wine. Under the guidance of Maison Verget, founded by the iconoclastic Jean-Marie Guffens, the grapes are harvested at optimal maturity and gently pressed. Fermentation and aging take place in oak barrels (with a very low percentage of new wood) to preserve the crystalline purity of the fruit. This wine beautifully balances the natural richness and power of Fuissé with a vibrant, saline acidity and flinty complexity, showcasing the revolutionary, terroir-driven philosophy that put Verget on the global map.

Maison Verget was established in 1990 by visionary Belgian winemaker Jean-Marie Guffens and his wife Maine Heynen in Sologny, located in the Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy. Renowned as a trailblazing négociant-éleveur, the house revolutionized Burgundy winemaking by implementing uncompromising standards of fruit selection, gentle horizontal pressing, and precise maturation on fine lees with minimal oak intervention. While celebrated globally for its pure, mineral-laden Chardonnay sourced across prime terroirs from the Mâconnais to Chablis and the Côte d'Or, Verget also applies its meticulous craft to expressive Pinot Noir and pioneering southern expressions.
