The Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck, translating to 'rose corner,' is one of the Rheingau's most dramatic steep-slope vineyards, historically named for the wild dog roses that clung to the rugged quartzite cliffs overlooking the Rhine. Weingut Leitz's Grosses Gewächs (GG) expression from this grand cru site showcases the extreme terroir of the region. The soils here are a complex mixture of Taunus quartzite, decomposed slate, and loess, which absorb the sun's heat and radiate it back to the vines. This dry Riesling is crafted using traditional methods, undergoing a gentle press and long, cool fermentation to preserve its intense minerality and floral elegance. The resulting wine is powerful yet remarkably precise, balancing vibrant acidity with deep, stony minerality and a characteristic whisper of wild herbs and orchard fruit.
