Perched on the extreme western slopes of Rüdesheim where the Rhine bends, Berg Rottland features steep, sun-drenched terraces composed of weathered Taunus quartzite, loess-loam, and red slate. The 'Hinterhaus' represents an exceptionally sheltered, historic cadaster parcel within the Grosse Lage, capturing intense radiant heat from the river and microclimatic warmth. Grapes undergo selective manual harvesting followed by gentle whole-cluster pressing. Fermentation occurs spontaneously via indigenous yeasts in a combination of temperature-controlled stainless steel and traditional neutral German oak Stückfass (1,200L casks). Extended maturation on the fine lees imparts textural weight, framing the site's intense mineral tension and smoky phenolic drive without masking its crystalline purity.

Weingut Leitz traces its familial viticultural ancestry back to 1744, though its modern renaissance commenced in 1985 when Johannes Leitz assumed control of the war-ravaged, 2.9-hectare family estate in Rüdesheim am Rhein. Through meticulous parcel acquisition and restoration of steep, historic slate and quartzite terraces, Leitz transformed the domaine into a premier Rheingau reference point.
