The Zweigelt Selektion is a testament to this versatility, offering a cool-climate expression of Austria's most popular red grape. Developed in 1922 by Dr. Fritz Zweigelt as a crossing of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, the grape thrives on Tement's steep, limestone-rich clay soils, locally known as 'Opok'. Hand-harvested and crafted with the same biodynamic philosophy as their grand crus, this wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation and gentle aging in large, neutral oak casks. The result is a red wine of remarkable purity, balancing bright red berry fruit with a distinct mineral tension and savory undertones that reflect the dramatic Alpine-influenced climate of Southern Styria.

Founded in 1959, Weingut Tement is a benchmark family-owned estate situated on the steep, dramatic hills of Südsteiermark along the Austrian-Slovenian border. Propelled to international renown under Manfred Tement and now steered by sons Armin and Stefan Tement, the winery practices certified biodynamic viticulture across mineral-rich limestone and coralline limestone soils.
