Weingut Vollenweider's 'Felsenfest' Riesling is a liquid testament to the dramatic, gravity-defying slate slopes of the Mosel Valley. The name 'Felsenfest'—meaning 'rock-solid'—captures both the literal stony foundations of the vineyards and the unwavering commitment required to cultivate them. Sourced from steep, slate-rich parcels around Traben-Trarbach, this dry Riesling is crafted with the same meticulous care as Vollenweider's grandest site-specific bottlings. The vines dig deep into the weathered Devonian slate, yielding a wine that balances vibrant, crystalline acidity with a profound, salty minerality. Fermented with wild yeasts and raised with minimal intervention, it reflects the pure, untamed spirit of the Mosel's historic terraces, carrying forward the legacy of the late Daniel Vollenweider under the precise stewardship of Moritz Hoffmann.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2000 by the late Swiss winemaker Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is located in Traben-Trarbach in the Mosel region of Germany. The estate is renowned for reclaiming and preserving historic, extremely steep vineyards, most notably the Wolfer Goldgrube, which features ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. Operating with a philosophy of meticulous manual labor, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar, the winery crafts highly precise, mineral-driven white wines, particularly their legendary, tension-filled Riesling Auslese expressions.
