Weingut Vollenweider's Riesling Kabinett is a vibrant tribute to the steep, slate-strewn slopes of the Mosel. Founded by the late Daniel Vollenweider, a Swiss visionary who was captivated by the sheer elegance of aged Mosel Rieslings, the estate focuses on preserving historic, ungrafted vines. This Kabinett is crafted from fruit grown on precarious, gravity-defying vineyards like the Wolfer Goldgrube, where the slate soils absorb the sun's warmth and radiate it back to the grapes. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged primarily in stainless steel, the wine captures the classic Mosel tension—balancing a delicate, feather-light sweetness with a piercing, electric acidity and a profound, smoky mineral finish born of pure slate terroir.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1999 by Swiss native Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is based in Traben-Trarbach in Germany's celebrated Mosel valley. Without family land or inherited infrastructure, Vollenweider dedicated himself to reviving neglected, century-old ungrafted vines clinging to the dramatic, slate-rich amphitheater of the Wolfer Goldgrube. Through meticulous, hands-on cultivation of these extreme steep slopes and traditional, low-intervention cellar work, the estate became a beacon of pure Mosel expression. Today, Weingut Vollenweider is internationally revered for its crystalline, mineral-laden Rieslings, particularly its legendary, highly collectible Auslese and Goldkapsel dessert wines.
