A rare and legendary sweet wine, the Westhofener Steingrube Albalonga Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) showcases Weingut Wittmann's mastery beyond their famous dry Rieslings. Albalonga, an uncommon grape variety crossed in 1951 from Rieslaner and Müller-Thurgau, finds a perfect home in the limestone-heavy soils of the Steingrube vineyard in Westhofen. This terroir provides a distinct mineral backbone that beautifully structures the grape's naturally high acidity. Because Albalonga is highly susceptible to botrytis, it is ideally suited for luscious dessert wines. The grapes are painstakingly harvested by hand, berry by shriveled berry, to capture the pure essence of noble rot. Fermented slowly in the estate's cool, historic vaulted cellars, this TBA is a masterclass in balance, offering intense concentration, honeyed complexity, and a vibrant acidity that keeps the wine remarkably fresh and elegant.

Weingut Wittmann har rødder i Westhofen helt tilbage til 1663 og regnes i dag blandt Tysklands mest indflydelsesrige pionerer inden for økologisk og biodynamisk vinbrug i Wonnegau-området i Rheinhessen. Under visionær ledelse af Philipp Wittmann og hans familie omlagde vinhuset til økologisk dyrkning i 1990 og opnåede fuld biodynamisk certificering i 2004. Wittmanns filosofi bygger på kompromisløs pleje af vinmarkerne, spontangæring med det naturlige gær og lagring på traditionelle, neutrale egetræsfade for at give det reneste udtryk for det kalkrige terroir på legendariske VDP.Grosse Lage-marker som Morstein, Kirchspiel, Aulerde og Brunnenhäuschen. Vingården er verdensberømt for sine skelsættende tørre Grosses Gewächs-Rieslinger, der brillerer med krystalklar præcision, spændstighed og kalket mineralitet, men mestrer i lige så høj grad exceptionelle ædelsøde botrytis-vine samt elegante Pinot Noir-vine.
