Part of Xavier Vignon's highly imaginative 'Arcane' series, which pairs exceptional parcels of the Southern Rhône with the symbolic archetypes of the Tarot, Arcane IX L'Hermite (The Hermit) represents introspection, patience, and the wisdom of time. Sourced from the rugged, high-altitude limestone scree slopes of Gigondas near the majestic Dentelles de Montmirail, this cuvée captures the cooler, more cerebral side of the appellation. The old-vine Grenache, which forms the backbone of this wine, thrives in these elevated, wind-swept vineyards, yielding concentrated fruit with remarkable freshness. Vignon employs his scientific precision to craft a wine of profound depth, utilizing concrete vats and truncated wooden cones for fermentation and aging to allow the intense mineral tension, dark berry fruit, and wild garrigue aromas of the terroir to shine without being masked by heavy oak.
