Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii near Kyoto, Yamazaki is Japan's oldest malt distillery. The 'Single Malt Bamboo Forest' style pays homage to the misty, humid climate of the Yamazaki vale, where the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu rivers meet. This unique microclimate, surrounded by lush bamboo forests, provides the perfect conditions for whisky maturation. Crafted from 100% malted barley and pristine local spring water—once praised by the legendary tea master Sen no Rikyu—this single malt is distilled in diverse copper pot stills and aged in a selection of casks, including rare Japanese Mizunara oak.
