Crafted at Japan's legendary Yamazaki Distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii near Kyoto, the Single Malt Islay Peated Bottled 2024 represents a masterful dialogue between Scottish heritage and Japanese precision. Yamazaki is situated at the confluence of three rivers—the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu—providing a humid microclimate and exceptionally soft water, famously praised by the historic tea master Sen no Rikyu. For this special release, Yamazaki utilizes heavily peated malt sourced directly from the Scottish island of Islay. The resulting spirit marries the intense, maritime, and earthy smoke of Islay peat with Yamazaki's signature elegant, fruit-forward house style, shaped by meticulous distillation in diverse copper pot stills and careful maturation in select oak casks.

Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, Yamazaki is Japan's oldest commercial whisky distillery, located at the scenic convergence of the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu rivers in Osaka Prefecture, where a unique humid microclimate and exceptionally pure water create the ideal environment for spirits maturation. Owned by Suntory, the distillery is globally celebrated for its pioneering craftsmanship and innovative maturation process, which utilizes a diverse array of cask types including Spanish sherry casks, American white oak, and rare Japanese Mizunara oak. Yamazaki's signature style is characterized by a complex, multi-layered fruitiness and deep, spicy incense-like aromas, epitomized by legendary expressions such as their Single Malt 12 and 18 Years Old.
