Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii on the outskirts of Kyoto, Yamazaki is Japan's oldest commercial whisky distillery. Nestled in a misty vale where the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu rivers meet, the distillery benefits from a highly humid microclimate ideal for cask maturation. The Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask Bottled 2016 is a legendary release in Japanese whisky history, following the global sensation of its 2013 predecessor. Meticulously crafted under the supervision of Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo, this expression is matured exclusively in carefully selected Spanish oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry. The result is a deeply complex, mahogany-hued spirit boasting intense notes of dried raisins, dark chocolate, clove, and a subtle balsamic acidity, representing the pinnacle of Japanese blending artistry and Spanish wood management.

Yamazaki Distillery blev grundlagt i 1923 af Suntory-skaberen Shinjiro Torii og troner ved foden af Tennozan-bjerget i Shimamoto, Osaka, som Japans første kommercielle single malt-destilleri.
