Absolut Elyx represents a luxurious departure from standard spirits, crafted as a single-estate winter wheat vodka in Åhus, Sweden. The wheat is sourced exclusively from the historic Råbelöf Castle, where the terroir of fertile Swedish soils and cold winters produces grain of exceptional starch quality. The true magic of Elyx lies in its distillation process, which occurs in a vintage copper column still dating back to 1921. Operated entirely by hand, this copper distillation naturally removes unwanted sulfur compounds, resulting in an incredibly silky, viscous texture and a clean, subtly sweet flavor profile with notes of macadamia nuts and fresh bread. It is a testament to traditional Swedish distilling heritage, combining centuries-old farming wisdom with meticulous craftsmanship.

Absolut blev grundlagt i 1879 af den svenske iværksætter Lars Olsson Smith under navnet Absolut Rent Brännvin og revolutionerede den nordeuropæiske rektifikation ved at introducere kontinuerlig kolonnedestillation. Mærket blev relanceret med international succes i 1979 i den ikoniske, apotekerinspirerede glasflaske og arbejder i dag ud fra en kompromisløs »One Source«-filosofi i kystbyen Åhus i Skåne. Produktionen bygger udelukkende på lokalt dyrket, robust vinterhvede, som sås om efteråret og høstes under den subarktiske sommersol, kombineret med krystalklart, mineralneutralt vand fra egne dybe artesisk boringer i det ældgamle skandinaviske grundfjeld. Den kontinuerlige destillationsproces, der gentages hundredvis af gange, fjerner uønskede biprodukter og urenheder, men bevarer en fyldig, afrundet kornkarakter med fine strejf af tørret frugt.
