Established in 1998 by Santiago Achával, Manuel Ferrer, Roberto Cipresso, and Italian associates—and later acquired by Tenute del Mondo—Achaval Ferrer stands as an elite vanguard of Argentine viticulture. Operating from Perdriel in Luján de Cuyo, the estate is renowned for championing ancient, low-yielding, ungrafted bush and pergola vines across disparate micro-terroirs along the Mendoza River and into the high-altitude reaches of the Uco Valley. Viticulture is practiced sustainably, eschewing chemical saturation in favor of organic soil treatments, severe green harvesting, and flood-irrigated alluvial and volcanic stony soils. Cellar protocol prioritizes low-intervention handling: unforced natural fermentations in concrete vats without chilling or acidification, subtle aging in fine French oak, and bottling unfined and unfiltered.
