✨ Technical Specifications
Crafted by the historic house of Albert Bichot, founded in Beaune in 1831, the 'Vieilles Vignes' (Old Vines) Pinot Noir represents a masterful expression of Burgundy's regional terroir. Sourced from selected plots across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, the vines for this cuvée average 25 to 35 years of age. These deeper root systems draw rich mineral complexity from the classic limestone and clay soils, yielding smaller, more concentrated berries. The vinification balances tradition and modernity, utilizing temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve the vibrant red fruit character, alongside partial aging in French oak barrels for 8 to 12 months to lend subtle structure, silky tannins, and a touch of spice. This wine pays homage to the centuries of Benedictine and Cistercian viticultural heritage that defined the climats of Burgundy.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1831 by Bernard Bichot in Monthélie and relocated to Beaune in 1912, Maison Albert Bichot represents six generations of Burgundian wine merchant and domaine prestige. Under the leadership of Albéric Bichot, the family has developed a mosaic of six autonomous domaines spanning over 100 hectares from Chablis to Beaujolais: Domaine Long-Depaquit, Domaine du Clos Frantin, Château-Gris, Domaine du Pavillon, Domaine Adélie, and Domaine de Rochegrès. The estate vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, and Côte Chalonnaise hold Ecocert organic certification, farmed with meticulous soil preservation and site-specific viticulture. Vinification emphasizes non-interventionist principles, gravity-fed cellar handling, ambient yeast fermentations, and delicate oak maturation tailored to each terroir's character. The house is celebrated for benchmark expressions including its iconic Chablis Grand Cru monopole La Moutonne, Grand Cru bottlings from Chambertin and Clos de Vougeot, and a legacy as one of the premier buyers at the Hospices de Beaune auctions.
