Dedicated to the legendary patriarch of the estate, the Giovanni Allegrini Recioto della Valpolicella Classico is a profound testament to Veneto's ancient winemaking traditions. Giovanni Allegrini was a tireless innovator who helped redefine the Valpolicella region, and this sweet red wine—the historic precursor to Amarone—was his personal favorite. Crafted from hand-selected Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes grown in the prestigious hills of the Valpolicella Classico zone, the fruit undergoes 'appassimento' (drying on traditional bamboo racks) for several months to concentrate sugars, acids, and flavors. Fermentation is carefully halted to preserve its natural sweetness, followed by maturation in oak casks. The resulting wine is rich, velvety, and deeply aromatic, carrying the legacy of a man who lived for his vineyards.

🍾 wine.about_producer

With a winemaking heritage in the Valpolicella region dating back to the 16th century, Allegrini is one of Italy's most prestigious and pioneering estates, located in the heart of Fumane di Valpolicella. Under the visionary leadership of the late Giovanni Allegrini and subsequently his children, the family revolutionized local viticulture by introducing high-density Guyot vine training and single-vineyard expressions like the iconic La Grola and the pure Corvina bottling, La Poja. The estate is celebrated for its masterful execution of the traditional appassimento technique for Amarone della Valpolicella, alongside modern innovations like Palazzo della Torre and the approachable Corte Giara line. Today, Allegrini remains a benchmark of quality, combining deep respect for Veneto's terroir with a relentless pursuit of elegance, structure, and complexity.
