Corte Giara was established in 1989 by the historic Allegrini family, a name synonymous with the viticultural excellence of Valpolicella. Conceived as a line of modern, approachable wines that honor traditional Veronese hospitality, this Pinot Grigio is sourced from select hillside vineyards across the Veneto region. The terroir, characterized by a mix of clay and limestone soils, benefits from a mild climate moderated by the proximity of Lake Garda and the protective Alpine foothills. To preserve the grape's natural vivacity and delicate aromatic profile, the wine undergoes fermentation and brief maturation entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The result is a classic expression of Italian Pinot Grigio—bright, clean, and beautifully balanced with notes of white peach, golden apple, and a subtle floral undertone.
🍾 wine.about_producer
With a winemaking heritage in the Valpolicella region dating back to the 16th century, Allegrini is one of Italy's most prestigious and pioneering estates, located in the heart of Fumane di Valpolicella. Under the visionary leadership of the late Giovanni Allegrini and subsequently his children, the family revolutionized local viticulture by introducing high-density Guyot vine training and single-vineyard expressions like the iconic La Grola and the pure Corvina bottling, La Poja. The estate is celebrated for its masterful execution of the traditional appassimento technique for Amarone della Valpolicella, alongside modern innovations like Palazzo della Torre and the approachable Corte Giara line. Today, Allegrini remains a benchmark of quality, combining deep respect for Veneto's terroir with a relentless pursuit of elegance, structure, and complexity.
