✨ Technical Specifications
First introduced in 1946 by Marquis Niccolò Antinori, Santa Cristina has long served as a benchmark for accessible, everyday Tuscan red wine. Originally born as a Chianti Classico, it evolved over the decades into a Toscana IGT to embrace a more modern, supple style. Today, it is crafted at the state-of-the-art Santa Cristina winery in Cortona, a historic town steeped in Etruscan heritage. The wine is a harmonious blend of traditional Sangiovese with international varieties like Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Vinified with a focus on preserving fresh fruit character, it undergoes a brief period of aging in oak barrels, resulting in a wine celebrated for its soft tannins, vibrant red berry flavors, and approachable, food-friendly nature.
🍾 About the Producer
Tracing its winemaking heritage back to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Guild of Florentine Winemakers, Marchesi Antinori stands as one of the world's most enduring and influential wine dynasties. For more than twenty-six generations, the family has balanced deep reverence for Tuscan tradition with bold, pioneering innovation, most notably catalyzing the Super Tuscan revolution in the late 20th century. Based at their architecturally stunning headquarters in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, the estate oversees prestigious properties across Tuscany, Umbria, and beyond, with viticulture dedicated to capturing the distinct soul of each terroir. Today, led by Marchese Piero Antinori alongside his daughters Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia, the house produces iconic masterpieces including the legendary Sangiovese-Cabernet blend Tignanello, the opulent Solaia, and the benchmark Italian white Cervaro della Sala.
