Solaia, one of Italy's most iconic Super Tuscans, originates from a sun-drenched 20-hectare vineyard at the Tignanello estate in the heart of Chianti Classico. The name Solaia translates to 'the sunny place,' reflecting its ideal southwest exposure. While typically a powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Franc aged in French oak, the rare 'Annata Diversa' (meaning 'different vintage') represents a fascinating chapter in Antinori's history. Created during the challenging, rain-soaked 1992 harvest, the Antinori family chose not to release their standard flagship bottling. Instead, they meticulously selected only the finest fruit to craft a unique, lighter, and remarkably elegant expression of the terroir, demonstrating their commitment to quality over volume and cementing the estate's legendary status.

Tracing its winemaking heritage back to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Winemakers' Guild, Marchesi Antinori has been shaped by twenty-six generations of family leadership. Headquartered in the heart of Chianti Classico, the family has expanded its portfolio across prestigious estates in Tuscany, Umbria, and beyond, driven by a philosophy that balances deep historical respect with bold innovation. Antinori famously pioneered the "Super Tuscan" movement in the 1970s, introducing revolutionary French oak aging and international varieties to create iconic labels like Tignanello and Solaia. Today, their diverse portfolio spans from the elegant Sangiovese of Badia a Passignano to the acclaimed white blend Cervaro della Sala, cementing their legacy as global ambassadors of Italian fine wine.
