Tignanello
โณ Drinking Window
2026 - 2042
๐ท Vintage Profile
The 2019 growing season in Chianti Classico delivered classic conditions, opening with a cool, damp spring that delayed budbreak and flowering before shifting to warm, dry summer weather interspersed with well-timed precipitation. Significant diurnal temperature shifts between August and September preserved vibrant natural acidity while fostering gradual, complete phenolic maturation in the Sangiovese and Cabernet parcels. Regarded critically as a benchmark Tuscan vintage defined by structural precision, fine-grained tannins, and exceptional balance, this bottling is entering its prime drinking window in 2026 and possesses cellar longevity through 2040 and beyond.

โจ Technical Specifications
The 2019 Tignanello is sourced from the estate's namesake vineyard in the Chianti Classico region, characterized by limestone and schist-rich soils (galestro and alberese) at elevations between 350 and 400 meters. The blend consists of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc. The 2019 growing season in Tuscany featured a cool spring followed by a warm, dry summer with favorable diurnal temperature variations, allowing for slow and balanced ripening. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels and was aged for approximately 14 to 16 months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak barrels, followed by an additional 12 months of bottle refinement prior to release.
๐พ About the Producer
Marchesi Antinori is one of the world's most storied winemaking dynasties, tracing its commercial viticultural heritage to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori matriculated into Florence's Arte dei Vinattieri. Spanning twenty-six generations, the family revolutionized modern Italian viticulture under Marchese Piero Antinori and legendary enologist Giacomo Tachis, catalyzing the Super Tuscan revolution with the pioneering release of Tignanello in 1971. Antinori commands an unrivaled tapestry of microclimates across Central Italy, encompassing the galestro and albarese marls of Chianti Classico at Tenuta Tignanello and Badia a Passignano, the maritime gravels of Bolgheri at Guado al Tasso, and the fossiliferous clay-limestone soils of Umbria at Castello della Sala. In the cellar, CEO and chief enologist Renzo Cotarella orchestrates a balance of precision, clonal selection, and judicious French oak barrique maturation. Antinori's benchmark winesโincluding the Sangiovese-driven Tignanello, the Cabernet-dominated Solaia, and the benchmark Umbrian Chardonnay blend Cervaro della Salaโstand as definitive monuments of Italian winemaking refinement.
