Tignanello is a legendary milestone in Italian viticultural history, credited with igniting the 'Super Tuscan' revolution of the 1970s. Created by Marchese Piero Antinori and the visionary winemaker Giacomo Tachis, this groundbreaking red was first released as a single-vineyard Chianti Classico but was soon stripped of its DOC status for boldly defying rigid local laws. By omitting white grapes from the blend, incorporating Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and aging the wine in French oak barriques, Antinori proved that Tuscany could produce world-class, modern wines of immense structure and elegance. Sourced from the historic Tignanello estate in the heart of Chianti Classico, the vines thrive in soils rich in calcareous marl, alberese, and galestro, imparting a signature mineral tension, refined tannins, and complex dark cherry and spice characteristics to this iconic Sangiovese-dominant blend.

Tracing its winemaking heritage back to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Guild of Florentine Winemakers, Marchesi Antinori stands as one of the world's most enduring and influential wine dynasties.
