Fattoria Aldobrandesca, situated in the southern reaches of Tuscany's Maremma region near the historic Etruscan town of Sovana, is the birthplace of Vie Cave. This unique red is crafted entirely from Malbec, a grape that has found an unexpected yet magnificent home in the estate's volcanic, tuffaceous soils. The wine's name pays homage to the 'Vie Cave'—mysterious, deep pathways hand-carved directly into the towering tufa cliffs by the ancient Etruscans thousands of years ago. Antinori's exploration of this terroir yields a wine of profound character, where the intense heat of the Maremma coast is tempered by the unique microclimate of these volcanic hills. The wine undergoes careful fermentation in stainless steel before aging for approximately 10 months in French oak barriques, resulting in a deeply colored, complex red boasting notes of dark ripe fruits, sweet spices, and a distinct mineral undertone.

Marchesi Antinori hører til blandt verdens mest legendariske vindynastier. Familiens vinøse rødder rækker helt tilbage til 1385, hvor Giovanni di Piero Antinori blev optaget i vinmagerlauget Arte dei Vinattieri i Firenze. Gennem 26 generationer har familien sat et markant aftryk på italiensk vinavl, ikke mindst da Marchese Piero Antinori og den legendariske ønolog Giacomo Tachis revolutionerede scenen og antændte Supertoscaner-bølgen med den banebrydende lancering af Tignanello i 1971. Antinori råder over et uovertruffet kludetæppe af mikroklimaer i det centrale Italien: fra Chianti Classicos galestro-skifer og albarese-kalksten på Tenuta Tignanello og Badia a Passignano, til Bolgheris kystnære grusaflejringer ved Guado al Tasso og de fossilrige kalk- og lerjorde ved Castello della Sala i Umbrien. I kælderen forener administrerende direktør og chefønolog Renzo Cotarella millimeterpræcis vinifikation, stringent klonselektion og en velafstemt lagring på franske barriques. Antinoris ikoniske vine – anført af den Sangiovese-baserede Tignanello, den Cabernet-dominerede Solaia og det umbriske hvidvinsreferencepunkt Cervaro della Sala – står i dag som absolutte milepæle for raffineret italiensk vinkunst.
