✨ Technical Specifications
White Port represents an alternative lineage in the Douro demarcated region, produced using indigenous white varieties harvested along the steep, terraced schist slopes. Fermentation of the crushed must is arrested mid-process through mutage with 77% neutral grape spirit (aguardente), typically in a 1:4 ratio, retaining natural residual sugar. Blended and matured in neutral wooden vats and stainless steel by Quinta and Vineyard Bottlers (The Fladgate Partnership), this style undergoes a relatively brief oxidative period to preserve bright stone fruit, citrus blossom, and honeyed aromatic tones while maintaining fresh balance.
🍾 About the Producer
Armilar is a private label brand of Port and fortified wines produced and bottled by Quinta and Vineyard Bottlers Vinhos S.A., an operational subsidiary of The Fladgate Partnership based in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. Developed primarily for international retail distribution through supermarket chains such as Lidl, the brand delivers accessible expressions of traditional Portuguese fortified winemaking. Sourced from the Douro Demarcated Region, the portfolio highlights classic Port styles, including Ruby, Tawny, and age-indicated 10 Year Old Tawny, crafted from traditional regional grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz. The wines reflect standard regional production practices, leveraging the extensive maturation and blending infrastructure established in Vila Nova de Gaia's historic lodge network.
