Averys of Bristol has played a monumental role in the history of the British wine trade, particularly in the importation and bottling of fine fortified wines from Portugal. Historically, Bristol was the primary gateway for Port entering England, and the cellars of Averys on Culver Street curated some of the finest casks selected directly from the lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia. This 10-Year-Old Tawny Port represents the traditional art of wood aging and blending. Crafted from select vineyards in the rugged, terraced Douro Valley, the wine is aged in seasoned oak casks (pipes) where gradual, controlled oxidation takes place. Over a decade of maturation, the intense ruby color of youth mellows into a warm, amber-tawny hue, while the fresh fruit character evolves into a complex tapestry of dried figs, raisins, toasted almonds, and subtle wood spice.
