Aliança, founded in 1927 in the Bairrada region and later integrated into the Bacalhôa portfolio, is renowned for its historic contributions to Portuguese winemaking. The 'Garrafeira Particular' represents a prestigious, traditional style of Portuguese red, crafted only in exceptional years. Under Portuguese wine law, the 'Garrafeira' designation demands strict aging requirements, ensuring the wine spends significant time in both oak casks and bottle before commercial release. Sourced from mature vineyards, this wine showcases the robust character of classic Portuguese varieties, undergoing traditional fermentation and extended maturation in the historic cellars of Sangalhos. It is celebrated for its deep complexity, firm tannic structure, and remarkable capacity to develop tertiary notes of leather, forest floor, and dried spices over decades.

Det berømte vinhus har rødder tilbage til 1922, hvor det blev grundlagt under navnet João Pires & Filhos, inden det sidenhen blev omdøbt til Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal. Hovedsædet ligger i Vila Nogueira de Azeitão på Península de Setúbal. Vingården ejes i dag af Berardo-familien, som har udvidet aktiviteterne til Portugals ypperste vinregioner – herunder Douro, Dão, Bairrada og Alentejo. Her forenes en stolt historisk arv og imponerende kunstsamlinger med topmoderne vindyrkning. Bacalhôa er særligt anerkendt for sin pionerånd og var blandt de første til at lancere banebrydende enkeltdruevine. Blandt husets mest hyldede klassikere finder man den legendariske Quinta da Bacalhôa Cabernet Sauvignon samt den traditionsrige, hedvinificerede Moscatel de Setúbal.
