Hailing from the rugged and sun-drenched slopes of the Douro Superior, Quinta dos Quatro Ventos—the 'Estate of the Four Winds'—is named for its unique, exposed topography where winds from all four cardinal directions sweep across the vines. This constant airflow provides a natural cooling effect in one of the hottest wine-growing regions on earth, helping to preserve acidity and freshness in the grapes. Grown in poor, vertical schist soils, the vines must dig deep for water, resulting in low yields of highly concentrated fruit. Crafted by Aliança, this Reserva showcases the classic power and elegance of the Douro, traditionally aged in French oak casks to seamlessly integrate its robust tannins with dark berry flavors, wild rockrose (esteva) aromatics, and a distinct mineral backbone.
