Quinta do Carmo, situated in the Estremoz subregion of Alentejo, boasts a rich history that traces back to the 18th century when King Joo V established the estate as a gift for his beloved court lady, Dona Maria. The estate's white wine, Quinta do Carmo Branco, captures the essence of this historic terroir, where clay-limestone soils and the thermal diurnal shifts of the Serra d'Ossa hills create an ideal microclimate. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve its bright, primary fruit characteristics, this wine showcases the classic Alentejo style—balancing rich, sun-ripened fruit notes with a lively, mineral-driven acidity that reflects the estate's prestigious winemaking heritage.

Det berømte vinhus har rødder tilbage til 1922, hvor det blev grundlagt under navnet João Pires & Filhos, inden det sidenhen blev omdøbt til Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal. Hovedsædet ligger i Vila Nogueira de Azeitão på Península de Setúbal. Vingården ejes i dag af Berardo-familien, som har udvidet aktiviteterne til Portugals ypperste vinregioner – herunder Douro, Dão, Bairrada og Alentejo. Her forenes en stolt historisk arv og imponerende kunstsamlinger med topmoderne vindyrkning. Bacalhôa er særligt anerkendt for sin pionerånd og var blandt de første til at lancere banebrydende enkeltdruevine. Blandt husets mest hyldede klassikere finder man den legendariske Quinta da Bacalhôa Cabernet Sauvignon samt den traditionsrige, hedvinificerede Moscatel de Setúbal. Deres alsidige portefølje spænder over fremragende tørre rød-, hvid- og rosévine til historiske hedvine, der alle indfanger Portugals autentiske terroir og elegance.
