Bacalhôa's Syrah is a masterful expression of this classic Rhône variety transplanted to the unique terroir of the Península de Setúbal. Grown in vineyards heavily influenced by the cooling Atlantic breezes from the nearby Arrábida hills and the warm Mediterranean sun, this wine benefits from clay-limestone soils that impart both structure and freshness. Bacalhôa has long been a pioneer in introducing international grape varieties to Portugal, and this single-varietal bottling showcases their expertise. The grapes are carefully harvested, destemmed, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by aging in French oak barrels to integrate the bold fruit flavors with subtle, integrated oak spice. The result is a deeply colored, aromatic red that beautifully marries the grape's natural peppery character with the ripe, plush fruit typical of the Portuguese coast.
