Bacardi Carta Oro Superior Gold represents a liquid legacy dating back to 1862, when Don Facundo Bacardi Masso founded the company in Santiago de Cuba. Don Facundo revolutionized rum production by introducing purposeful charcoal filtration and deliberate aging in toasted oak barrels. The iconic bat logo, chosen by his wife Amalia, was inspired by the fruit bats nesting in the distillery's rafters, representing good fortune and family unity. Today, crafted in Puerto Rico at the famous 'Cathedral of Rum' in Catano, Carta Oro is a masterfully blended golden rum. It is aged in charred white oak barrels, resulting in a smooth, amber-hued spirit characterized by rich notes of vanilla, buttery caramel, toasted almonds, and sweet banana, capturing the vibrant, tropical heritage of Caribbean distillation.

Established in Santiago de Cuba in 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, Bacardí revolutionized rum production by introducing proprietary cultured yeast strains, continuous column distillation, and pioneering charcoal filtration to yield a refined, light-bodied spirit. Following the expropriation of family assets during the Cuban Revolution, operations transitioned to Puerto Rico, centering on the monumental Casa Bacardí facility in Cataño—affectionately known as the "Cathedral of Rum." Situated along San Juan Bay, the distillery leverages tropical maritime maturation, where elevated Caribbean heat and humidity accelerate ester development and barrel extraction in charred American white oak casks. The house employs both aguardiente (a robust, aromatic spirit) and redestilado (a pristine neutral distillate), blended across successive charcoal filtration regimens to achieve crisp aromatic clarity.
