Zinfandel
⏳ Drinking Window
Typically best enjoyed 1–4 years from release.
🍷 Vintage Profile
The 2025 growing season across Puglia was characterized by high summer temperatures and prolonged drought conditions, mitigated primarily by sustained coastal breezes that preserved diurnal variation and kept fungal pressure minimal. Early veraison led into an advanced harvest window, yielding Zinfandel with concentrated primary fruit characteristics, moderate natural acidity, and supple, readily integrated tannins. Currently in its youth following release, the wine shows immediate approachability and is best consumed within its primary drinking window of 2026 to 2029.
🍽️ Food & Wine Pairings
Slow-braised beef short ribs, grilled Italian sausages with roasted bell peppers, aged Pecorino Pugliese.
✨ Technical Specifications
Sourced from warm, sun-exposed vineyards across Puglia defined by iron-rich terra rossa over porous limestone beds. Fruit undergoes destemming and gentle crushing followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats to preserve ripe primary fruit dynamics. A controlled maceration extracts ripe, rounded tannins before a portion of the cuvée completes malolactic conversion and undergoes brief maturation in oak, imparting subtle spice and vanilla undertones to the dark berry core.
🍾 About the Producer
Bagatella is a dedicated southern Italian wine label produced by Botter S.p.A., one of Italy's most prominent historic négociants and wine houses founded in 1928 by Carlo and Maria Botter. Headquartered in Fossalta di Piave and now operated as part of the Argea group, the house expanded into southern Italy during the late twentieth century, forging long-term grower partnerships and acquiring regional estates across Puglia, including Masseria Doppio Passo. Sourced from sun-drenched Puglian terroirs featuring red Mediterranean soils over limestone substrates, the label captures the generous, fruit-forward typicity of the Salento and broader Puglia IGT landscapes. The benchmark Bagatella Zinfandel is vinified via temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation with partial oak maturation to deliver a plush, structured profile laden with spiced brambleberries, black cherry compote, mocha, and rounded tannins designed for immediate, accessible gastronomic appeal.
