The wine's playful name translates to 'the gossip' or 'the chatterbox' in Italian, but it is also a nod to the lively shorebird that inhabits the local Tuscan coastal wetlands. This dual meaning perfectly captures the wine's bright, expressive, and highly social character, designed to spark lively conversation. Crafted entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with brief contact on the lees, it avoids oak to preserve the grape's natural, zesty acidity and intense aromatic profile. The maritime influence of the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea imparts a distinct saline minerality to the wine, beautifully balancing its rich notes of Mediterranean scrub, yellow peach, and fresh citrus.

Founded in 1978 by Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani, Banfi is centered around the historic medieval fortress Castello di Poggio alle Mura in Montalcino, Tuscany.
