Hailing from the sun-drenched coastal hills of Tuscany's Maremma region, Banfi's 'La Pettegola' is a vibrant, modern expression of 100% Vermentino. The wine's playful name translates to 'the gossip' or 'the chatterbox' in Italian, but it is also a nod to the lively shorebird that inhabits the local Tuscan coastal wetlands. This dual meaning perfectly captures the wine's bright, expressive, and highly social character, designed to spark lively conversation. Crafted entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with brief contact on the lees, it avoids oak to preserve the grape's natural, zesty acidity and intense aromatic profile. The maritime influence of the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea imparts a distinct saline minerality to the wine, beautifully balancing its rich notes of Mediterranean scrub, yellow peach, and fresh citrus.

Banfi blev grundlagt i 1978 af de italiensk-amerikanske brødre John og Harry Mariani og har sit hjerte omkring den historiske middelalderfæstning Castello di Poggio alle Mura i toscanske Montalcino. Vingården spillede en afgørende rolle i den moderne renæssance for Brunello di Montalcino gennem banebrydende klonforskning i Sangiovese, topmoderne vinifikationsteknikker og et kompromisløst fokus på miljømæssig bæredygtighed.
