✨ Technical Specifications

Escudo Rojo is the direct Spanish translation of 'Rote Schild', the historical German name meaning 'Red Shield' that serves as the ancestral emblem of the Rothschild family. In 1997, Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. expanded its winemaking legacy to Chile, seeking to marry French expertise with the exceptional terroir of the Central Valley. This wine celebrates Carmenère, a grape variety originally from Bordeaux that was thought to be extinct after the phylloxera epidemic of the 19th century, only to be rediscovered thriving in Chile decades later. Grown in the warm, sun-drenched vineyards of the Central Valley, the grapes are carefully selected and vinified using traditional methods, including partial aging in French oak barrels. The result is a rich, expressive red wine that beautifully balances intense dark fruit flavors with the variety's signature spicy and herbaceous notes.
