The name Escudo Rojo is the Spanish translation of the German 'Rote Schild' (Red Shield), the historical emblem of the Rothschild family, symbolizing the bridge between ancestral Bordeaux expertise and the exceptional terroirs of Chile. For this Gran Reserva white, Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo Chile selects premium grapes from the cool-climate Casablanca Valley, benefiting from morning mists and cooling Pacific breezes. The wine is crafted primarily from Chardonnay, with a portion of the blend fermented and aged in French oak barrels to impart a delicate creaminess, structure, and subtle toasted notes, while the remainder is kept in stainless steel to preserve the vibrant, mineral-driven acidity and fresh tropical fruit aromas characteristic of the region.
