Established in 1725 by Irish merchant Thomas Barton and later joined by French partner Daniel Guestier, Barton & Guestier stands as the oldest active wine house in Bordeaux. Here, the Mediterranean climate—characterized by hot, dry summers and cooling sea breezes—allows the Merlot grape to achieve optimal ripeness. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and subjected to short maceration to preserve fresh fruit aromas, a portion of the blend undergoes brief oak contact to add subtle structure and hints of spice.
