Bedrock Wine Co.'s Chuy Chardonnay is a remarkable tribute to one of Sonoma's legendary viticultural figures, Chuy Ordaz, and his high-altitude vineyard tucked away on the volcanic slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains. Planted in the early 1970s to the historic Wente clone, these dry-farmed, old vines struggle in the rocky, iron-rich soils, producing tiny, concentrated clusters. Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW honors this exceptional fruit through a minimalist approach: native yeast fermentation and aging in mostly neutral French oak barrels. The resulting wine is a masterclass in tension and texture, balancing a rich, phenolic weight with a searing, saline minerality and vibrant citrus drive that reflects its rugged mountain terroir.
