Bedrock Wine Co.’s "Drummond's Cuvee" Petite Sirah is a liquid monument to California's viticultural history. The wine is named in honor of Captain James Drummond, a pioneering Scottish immigrant who established Dunfillan Winery in the late 19th century and was among the first to import Petite Sirah (Durif) and Syrah cuttings from the Rh$ne Valley to Sonoma. Sourced from ancient, head-trained vines in the historic Bedrock Vineyard—some of which trace their lineage directly back to Drummond's original 1880s estate—this cuvé is a masterclass in power and complexity. True to Bedrock's field-blend philosophy, the wine is dominated by Petite Sirah but often co-fermented with small percentages of complementary heritage varieties like Peloursin and Syrah. Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW employs minimal-intervention techniques, utilizing native yeast fermentation and aging in French oak barrels to preserve the dark, brooding fruit, intense structural tannins, and deep savory complexity that define this historic site.
