Bedrock Wine Co.’s 'Erster Zweieiiger Zwilling' (meaning 'First Fraternal Twin') Riesling is a compelling exploration of vessel-driven winemaking and historic California terroir. Sourced from the legendary Wirz Vineyard in San Benito County's Cienega Valley, where own-rooted Riesling vines were planted in 1964 on decomposed granite and limestone, this wine represents one half of a unique experimental pair. To highlight how different aging vessels influence the same old-vine fruit, winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW split the harvest: the 'Erster' twin was fermented and aged in a concrete egg. This vessel encourages continuous lees contact and gentle convection currents, resulting in a beautifully textured, mineral-driven white wine that balances Riesling's natural, high-toned acidity with a subtle, rounded weight and distinct saline finish.
