Hailing from the legendary Evangelho Vineyard in Contra Costa County, this wine is a tribute to California's viticultural history. Planted in the 1890s, the ancient, own-rooted Carignan vines survive in deep, wind-blown Delhi blow-sand soils that look more like a beach than a typical vineyard. These sandy soils acted as a natural barrier against phylloxera, preserving these historic vines for over a century. Situated near the confluence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers, the vineyard is swept by cool delta breezes that preserve the grape's natural acidity and prolong the growing season. Bedrock Wine Co. crafts this single-vineyard bottling with minimal intervention, utilizing native yeast fermentation and aging in neutral French oak to allow the unique terroir to shine. The resulting wine is remarkably vibrant and complex, offering a beautiful tension between bright pomegranate, dark wild plum, savory dried herbs, and a distinct, mineral-driven salinity that is characteristic of this historic site.

Bedrock Wine Co. blev grundlagt i 2007 af Morgan Twain-Peterson MW, som senere fik selskab af partneren Chris Cottrell. Eventyret tog sin spæde begyndelse i et ombygget hønsehus, båret af en brændende mission om at bevare Californiens historiske, bevaringsværdige vinmarker. Vingården arbejder tæt sammen med ældgamle parceller med traditionsrige field blends på tværs af vidtstrakte terroirs – fra vulkansk jordbund og alluviale aflejringer til granit og forvitret kalksten i Sonoma Valley, Contra Costa County og Central Coast. Helt central for vinhusets identitet er den historiske Bedrock Vineyard, der oprindeligt blev plantet i 1854 og i dag er Regenerative Organic-certificeret. Bedrock er en passioneret fortaler for tørbrug (dry farming), minimal indgriben i kælderen og klassiske, buskbeskårne vinstokke (head-trained). I vineriet benytter Twain-Peterson sig af spontangæring med naturgær, helklasegæring og modning på neutralt træ, mens kemiske justeringer og overdreven ekstraktion bevidst fravælges. Udover de legendariske røde heritage-aftapninger skaber Bedrock også skelsættende hvidvine og rosévine – herunder den aromatiske Compagni Portis Heirloom White, den krystalklare Wirz Vineyard Riesling samt håndværksmæssige fortolkninger af Bien Nacido Chardonnay og Ode to Lulu Rosé. Fælles for dem alle er en bemærkelsesværdig nerve, saltet mineralitet og en dyb, historisk autenticitet.
