Hailing from the legendary Hudson Vineyard in the cool, wind-swept Carneros region of Napa Valley, Bedrock Wine Co.'s South T'n'S-Blocks Syrah is a masterclass in cool-climate California Syrah. Planted by the iconic grower Lee Hudson, the 'T'n'S' blocks (named after his sons, Talbot and Saxon) sit on volcanic ash and clay soils that are heavily influenced by the chilly morning fogs of the San Pablo Bay. This unique microclimate slows ripening, allowing the grapes to develop intense aromatic complexity without losing their vibrant acidity. Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW crafts this wine with a nod to the Northern Rhône, utilizing a high percentage of whole-cluster fermentation and aging in mostly neutral French oak puncheons. The result is a deeply savory, complex red that eschews simple fruit in favor of cracked black pepper, smoked meats, black olive tapenade, and dark brambly fruit, capturing the wild, untamed spirit of one of California's most historic vineyards.
