Bedrock Wine Co.’s 'Ode to Lucien' is a heartfelt liquid homage to Lucien Peyraud, the legendary patriarch of Domaine Tempier who championed the Mourvèdre grape in Bandol. Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW crafts this cuvée to prove that California's ancient, historic vineyards can produce Mourvèdre-dominant blends of equal depth, structure, and soul. Sourced from centenarian vines—often including heritage Mataro (Mourvèdre) from sites like the Bedrock Vineyard and Evangelho Vineyard—the wine is typically blended with small amounts of Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah. It is fermented with native yeasts and a portion of whole clusters, then aged in neutral French oak to allow the wild, savory character of the fruit to shine. The result is a deeply complex red boasting notes of dark bramble fruit, cured meats, forest floor, and dried Mediterranean herbs, capturing both the spirit of the French south and the sun-drenched history of California viticulture.

Bedrock Wine Co. blev grundlagt i Sonoma, Californien, i 2007 af vinmageren Morgan Twain-Peterson MW med en dedikeret mission om at genoprette og bevare statens historiske vinmarker med gamle vinstokke.
