Bedrock Wine Co.’s ‘Ode to Lulu’ is a heartfelt liquid homage to the late Lulu Peyraud of Domaine Tempier, the legendary matriarch of Bandol who came to define the soulful, structured potential of Mediterranean-style ros. While most modern ross are crafted from young, high-yielding vines as an afterthought, Bedrock sources grapes for this cuv from some of California’s oldest, most historic plantings of Mourvdre and Grenache, with some vines dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Sourced from prized heritage sites, including the deep, wind-swept sands of Oakley in Contra Costa County, the grapes are picked specifically for ros to preserve their bright, natural acidity. Fermented with native yeasts and aged primarily in stainless steel and neutral oak, this pale, copper-hued wine balances vibrant citrus and stone fruit notes with a deep, savory, and mineral-driven complexity that honors its old-school French inspiration.
